Girls battle the GIANTS tonight

The Maine West Warriors girl’s varsity basketball team will be hosting Highland Park on Dec. 2, matching up against the Giants at 7 p.m.

Coming off a tough 32-point conference loss to Deerfield on Nov. 29, the Warriors look to bounce back against the formidable Highland Park Giants to improve to 3-4 overall. This highly anticipated matchup will be the second conference game of the season for the girls in blue and gold as they look to make the jump to 1-1 in the conference.

The Giants are led by 6’2″ point-guard Mckenzie Reitmayer who has helped her team get off to a strong 4-2 start. “She is a 6’2″ guard that can shoot the ball, drive, and get offensive boards so we will need to stop her,” Faiza Rogaria said. This will also be the Giant’s second conference matchup of the year, starting off 1-0 already.

Rogaria said, “not getting frustrated if we’re down, playing as a team, and being in the right mindset,” will be the biggest challenge for the Warriors tonight.

She also says Highland Park should expect, “that our intensity is up, we are a different team from last year, and that we are ready for the fight.”
