Seize the moment; don’t back down from opportunities or challenges

The wait is over: we’re graduating. Although our graduation and senior festivities aren’t happening at the best time, they are reflective of what life truly is like. Life is never all rainbows and butterflies. There’s always going to be ups and downs. The situation that we’re currently in is nothing less than the challenges we will soon be facing. And just like we are combatting this, we will combat our future challenges with integrity and courage, because you always keep moving in life. No matter what happens, you must keep on going.
When you are challenged and pushed to the ground, get back up, stronger the next time. Don’t let minor things discourage you. Remember that you have the power to do absolutely anything you set your mind to. Nothing will go perfectly, challenges are a part of life. In fact, some would say that one who has not faced challenges is one who has not lived. Embrace that. Push yourself and work wholeheartedly for your dreams, and no power will be able to stop you from reaching them; all you need is strength. We made it, but not quite. You did not get this far to stop working. Keep going. Keep pushing yourself. Keep pursuing your dreams. Keep finding ways to grow. Don’t stop now.
We can all agree that Maine West has shaped us into the people we are today. We are not the same freshmen that walked in, and Maine West has played a major part in that. Never forget the people who have supported your journey.
Personally, I am where I am and who I am because of my family, my friends, and my teachers. My parents have made the biggest impact on me, always serving as a source of inspiration. They came to this country with absolutely nothing but the desire to build a better life. Their selflessness, resilience, and hard work is what has awarded them their successes in life; it was all they needed. Their example constantly reminds me that hard work and perseverance always pays off. Everything they are is what I aspire to be.
My parents, however, never forgot to live their lives to the fullest. In chasing your dreams, it can be quite easy to leave yourself behind. Never do that. Don’t forget to seize the moment. Don’t wait until tomorrow. Believe in yourself. Because you only live once. Carpe diem.
