Students from Maine West held a canned food drive from Oct. 23 to Nov. 10. The food will going to the Des Plaines Food Pantry.

As of Friday morning, around 1000 cans have been donated, according to StuCo sponsor Melissa Lloyd. StuCo coordinates this annual canned food drive to give back to Des Plaines and help people in need. After school on Friday, kids packed a bus with the donated food and sent it down the road to the food pantry, located at the intersection of Wolf and Algonquin roads.

“It really shows how much our school cares about the community and shows how great the students are,” said StuCo secretary Grace Tomenillie.
