    Girls Tennis First Away Game

    Girls Varsity Tennis: First doubles team Marie B. and Hana D. beat Fenton today during the first away game of the season. “It’s still the beginning of the season, so I have a lot to improve on, but I’m off to a good start,” sophomore Hana D. said.
    Overall, the Maine West team won against Fenton 5-0.

    Girls tennis, along with other fall sports, are starting their seasons already! Come support our varsity girls tomorrow at 4:30 at their first home game. “I’m really impressed with the new players on varsity, and I think this season will be great because I’m only seeing improvement,” junior Alex M. said.

    Taste of Des Plaines 2018

    The Taste of Des Plaines was held over the course of two days, Friday and Saturday in downtown Des Plaines. The festival featured free live music, different games, food from local restaurants, wine, and even a climbing wall. Many were able to enjoy their time listening to the live bands in the designated seated area, while others with children were provided a family area full of different games.

    Memorial Day Ceremony 2018

    Des Plaines honored fallen soldiers during today’s Memorial Day Ceremony at Lake Park Memorial Pavilion.
    Wearing contemporary uniforms, students freshman Carter D., senior Brett P., senior Matthew M., senior Derek P., sophomore Liam B. and freshman Miguel P. portrayed soldiers and their family members from the Civil War through the Vietnam War, reciting a short speech about each soldier’s death and the impact it made on their family, while juniors and buglers Claire F. and Davis P. played a rendition of “Taps”. A recording is available on the Des Plaines City Council’s website.
