Class council looks to mentor young athletes

To help younger kids in Des Plaines interact with high schoolers, Sophomore Class Council is hoping to start a sports buddy program.

Class council members want kids in local leagues and park district programs to team up with the high schoolers in their sports. They want high school students to be able to learn new leadership skills while playing with the younger kids.

“When we were younger, the high schoolers inspired us to play so we could get here and be that good,” sophomore Kensey Reeves said. “As of now, this is just an idea. We hope it will work out in the end because we want this to be something that is continued.”

Anyone interested in helping this and other future events can attend the next Sophomore Class Council meeting, this Tuesday, Nov. 14  in room D113 at 7 a.m.
